| Around the corner from Ka'ena Point and just past Army Beach, is a site a half to one mile offshore, that has yet to be given a name. Unnamed Reed is a series of ledges running perpendicular to the shoreline with channels of sand in between. This cluster of small caverns, at about 60 to 70 feet, is home to a variety of crustaceans and shells - including Triton's Trumpets. Beware, where Tritons can be found, rest assured there is a community of the poisonous crown-of-thorns sea stars. Several sharks have been sighted resting in the caves, including Whitetips and Blacktips. This dive is for the experienced diver only - and, of course, is normally inaccessible during the winter months. |
