Kahala Barge Oahu
Kahala Barge
Dive Site: Kahala Barge
Depth: 80 feet
Location: South Shore
Visibility: 100 feet
Level: Advanced
Sea Life: Amberjacks, Manta Rays, Turtles, White Tip Reef Sharks, Eagle Rays
This barge was purposely sunk in 90 feet of water, 250 yards off the Kahala Hilton. The retired 200 Foot Matson Barge resting upright and fully intact, includes a penetrable pilothouse. The pilothouse is penetrable and makes for great photo opportunities. The waters are kept clean by the currents, which also add a treacherous consideration when navigating around jagged edges. As such, this should be considered as an Advanced Dive, especially if swimming from the shore.

Review this dive site.

This was a nice dive. There were 3 curious sea turtles that kept
circling us throughout our inspection of the barge, along with the usual
multi-colored fish. My only regret was that we weren't allowed to swim within
the barge due to a recently collapsed wall. Good dive; good site.
