Kona's calm waters and the wide variety of diving opportunities entice scuba divers of every caliber. The Big Island was rated as the top dive destination in the 1998 Rodale's Scuba Diving Reader's Choice Awards, and we can show you why! It's hard to find a more fun, informative dive trip on the Kona Coast! But don't just take our word for it, visit our review section and check out what other divers say about diving with Sandwich Isle Divers.
We offer a full range of scuba instruction courses, and if you're interested in shore diving Kona's waters, check out our equipment rental rates.
Since the Kona Coast is protected from the elements by three large volcanoes, you will experience a very pleasant ride to the sites.
The most popular dive we offer is a two-tank, two-location morning dive. The average boat ride is twenty minutes. The variety of underwater structure in relatively shallow water lends to a typical dive profile in the thirty to sixty foot range. We find this dive plan optimal for a number of reasons:
- The greatest variety of sea life is in shallow water.
- The risk of "the bends" is greatly reduced in the "comfort zone."
- We prefer 60 minutes of bottom time at thirty feet to 15 minutes at ninety feet.
In addition, afternoon dives, night and night/dusk dives, and fish/dive charters are always available on request.
The varying degree of customer interest in these dives does require us to ask for advance notice in order to assure bookings (call our toll free number below or use our online contact form to inquire about possible dates).
